Karnataka Domicile Requirements for NEET 2024 State Quota

NEET Domicile Criteria

1. The candidate must have completed a minimum of 7 years of education between Class 1 and 12 or its equivalent in one or more Government or Government-recognized schools located in Karnataka.

2. The candidate should have passed Class 11 and 12 or its equivalent from a Government or Government-recognized institution in Karnataka, and at least one of their parents must have studied in Karnataka for a minimum of 7 years.

3. The candidate and at least one of their parents must have Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava as their mother tongue, and the parent/s must be domiciled in Karnataka. The candidate should have studied in an educational institution outside of Karnataka and currently reside outside of Karnataka as of May 11 in the particular year. Such candidates will undergo a Kannada Language Test conducted by the KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority).

4. The candidate’s mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava, and they should have studied for a minimum of 7 years (between Classes 1 and 12) in the disputed Kannada-speaking area of South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath, or Gadhingraj Taluks of Maharashtra, or Kasargod, Hosardurga, or Manjeshwar Taluks of Kerala. These candidates will also undergo a Kannada Language Test conducted by the KEA.

5. Candidates whose parent/s are Defense Personnel and have served in Karnataka continuously for at least one year while the candidate was in Classes 11 and 12 or equivalent, from a Government or Government-recognized institute in Karnataka.

6. Children of Defense Personnel who declared a place in Karnataka as their hometown when joining the Defense Services.

7. Children of Defense Personnel currently serving outside of Karnataka but allowed by competent authorities to stay in Karnataka. The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination from a Government or Government-recognized institution in the state.

8. Children of ex-servicemen who declared a place in Karnataka as their hometown when joining the Defense Services, with proof of domicile. These candidates may have passed the qualifying examination from a recognized institution anywhere in the country.

9. Candidates whose parent/s are employees of the Central Government or Karnataka State Government, liable to be transferred anywhere in the country but have served in Karnataka continuously for at least one year while the candidate was in Classes 11 and 12 or equivalent, from a Government or Government-recognized institute in Karnataka.

10. Children of Members of Parliament (MPs) elected from Karnataka, even if they have passed Class 12 from a recognized institution anywhere in the country.

11. Candidates whose parent/s are employed in All India Services of Karnataka cadre, or Karnataka State Government, and have served or are serving outside the state during the candidate’s study period (Classes 1 to 12 or equivalent). This service can be used to fulfill the 7 years’ minimum requirement mentioned in point 1.

12. Candidates whose parent/s are migrants from Jammu and Kashmir, with proof to be submitted to the competent authority.

13. Candidates who have studied for a full 10 years in Kannada medium institutions, exempt from the language test by KEA. They must have passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government-recognized educational institution within the country.

14. If the candidate has passed Class 12 from an institution outside of Karnataka, at least one of their parents must be a Karnataka domicile holder. Additionally, in this case, the candidate or the parent/s must have Kannada, Kodava, or Tulu as their mother tongue, and the candidate will be required to take the Karnataka Language Test conducted by KEA.
